Chemnitz Celebrates Jewish Culture and Achievement
Every year since 1991 Chemnitz celebrates the contribution of Judaism to Western civilization and German culture.
A week in March is generally dedicated to festivities which feature a high level of artistic expression. Jewish songs, music, and dance, and readings in Hebrew, Yiddish and German are given.
Plans are already in the offing for the 12th Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz for 2003. Prime sponsoring organization implementing this vital aspect of Chemnitz culture and history is the Deutsch-Israelische Gesellschaft.
Additional information in German can be obtained from the German-Israel Society.
